Dancing with the Stars kicked off its sixteenth season

Dancing with the Stars may have just improved upon its winning formula for this, its Sixteenth season. Let’s recap some of the more obvious improvements. shoimprovement

It will feature two new dance styles, contemporary and jazz and has three new professional dance partners, Lindsay Arnold, Sharna Burgess and Gleb Savchenko; and notable theme shows.

The pairings:

Hughley and Cheryl Burke, Jacoby Jones and Karina Smirnoff, Wynonna Judd and Tony Dovolani, Sean Lowe and Peta Murgatroyd, Dancing with the Stars kicked off its sixteenth seasonVictor Ortiz and Lindsay Arnold, Kellie Pickler and Derek Hough, Ingo Rademacher and Kym Johnson, Alexandra Raisman and Mark Ballas, Lisa Vanderpump and Gleb Savchenko and finally Zendaya and Val Chmerkovskiy.

The Cast:
What a celebrity cast DWTS has for the 2013 season, and new professional dancers on the dance floor to offer the viewers some fresh faces and a couple of new dancing formats. DWTS season sixteen is set to wow the audiences, both in chairs in the living room and in the studio.
The cast includes: former Olympic skater, Dorothy Hamill, who said she knows that watching Kristi Yamaguchi on season six of DWTS gave her the inspiration to survive breast cancer. Singer Wynonna Judd, who first rose to fame in the 1980s alongside her mother, Naomi, in the country music duo The Judds. Comedian Andy Dick was surprised to see the crowds rooting for him after he and his partner scored a 17 for their foxtrot; “It’s weird” he said, “I guess I have low self-esteem because I don’t know”- in regard to the support he received.

Meanwhile actor D.L. Hughley, has already received taunts by the media’s for being stiff and has been picked as one of the first to go. Other celebrity dancers are “The Bachelor” star Sean Lowe,had support from his new fiancée, Catherine Giudici, who was excited to see him dance, unfortunately the judges weren’t wowed. Making Dancing with the Stars kicked off its sixteenth seasonfun of his “Chippendales” dance moves, Tonioli told him, “For a dance virgin, you have a very effective pelvic thrust.”

Former “American Idol” contestant, Kellie Pickler, forms part of the cast. She shaved off her hair in Nov 2012, in support of her friend, Summer Miller, who was diagnosed with cancer in June of 2012. While soap star Ingo Rademacher a German-born US-based Australian television actor, perhaps best known for his role of Jasper “Jax” Jacks on the American daytime soap opera General Hospital, teams up with Kym Johnson, and tweeted on Monday in anticipation for the DWTS premiere episode, “here we go! gonna be a long day ; – ) i wanna crawl back into bed. please : -)” While “Shake It Up” star Zendaya who is the youngest DWTS star at only sixteen years old and teamed up with Valentin Chmerkowskiy, managed to wow the Judges and earn a top score of 24, for a Contemporary dance that had Carrie Ann cheering, Len said was great and Bruno called superb; adding that he couldn’t wait to see more from Zendaya.

Boxer Victor Ortiz, will be performing a different type of dance on a very different ‘canvas’. Will he improve his painting of the DWTS floor with brush strokes and wow the Judges. With comments for Victor: Len: “There’s a lot of things going for him, but it was uneventful for him.” Bruno:“ What a wonderful combination of boyish charm and Latino passion. There’s a lot of work to do. ”Carrie Ann: “His posture was great and open and Dancing with the Stars kicked off its sixteenth seasonfantastic.” Not as upbeat as his footsteps on the boxing canvas.
NFL player Jacoby Jones had support from his competitor ‘The Bachelor’ Sean Lowe, who is reported to have said “he is the one to beat and further said according to US Weekly that Jacoby is obviously very athletic. He just won the Super Bowl, and then every time he gets in the end zone, he’s dancing already. So, he’s on my radar.”

Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star Lisa Vanderpump is partnered with rookie pro, Gleb Savchenko. Celeb Buzz has reported, He’s smokin’ hot and the “closeness” of the dances makes Lisa feel like she’s cheating on her husband, Ken. “I feel it’s almost being unfaithful in the nicest possible way,” she says. “Knees together just like my mother always taught me. I’m happy to be as unfaithful as it takes to makes a good dance, but geez! It’s really in your space.” and Olympic gymnast Alexandra Raisman captain of the gold medal-winning US Women’s Gymnastics team at the 2012 Summer Olympics and individually won a gold medal on the floor and a bronze medal on the balance beam. And at age eighteen is the second youngest in the DWTS cast.
The Four professional dancers:

Anna Trebunskaya, Chelsie Hightower, Louis van Amstel, and Maksim Chmerkovskiy, opted not to return for the current season. The new professional partners are Sharna Burgess, Gleb Savchenko, and Lindsay Arnold.

DWTS Judges:
Len Goodman, Carrie Ann Inaba, and Bruno Tonioli all returned for the new season, as did hosts Tom Dancing with the Stars kicked off its sixteenth seasonBergeron and Brooke Burke Charvet.

DWTS Format:
For the first episode, three of the couples performed contemporary routines, while the rest focused on the foxtrot and cha-cha-cha.

DWTS Scores first episode:
Hughley and his partner, Cheryl Burke, had the low score for the week, coming in with a 12/30 for their performance, several points behind second-lowest-scoring couple Andy Dick and Sharna Burgess’s 17/30 score. Many of the contestants clustered with scores between 18 and 21, and Zendaya and her partner, Valentin Chmerkovskiy, captured the high score with 24/30.

According to the website Wetpaint, Pickler expressed trepidation over what she saw as high expectations for her performance. “People are expecting me to be good, and I don’t know if I am or not,” she said. “I hope people don’t have too high of expectations for me, because I’m not a dancer.”

The past several celebrity winners for the competition have been a mix of reality TV contestants (fall 2012 winner Melissa Rycroft), football players (spring 2012 champ Donald Driver and spring 2011 winner Hines Ward), and actors (fall 2011’s J.R. Martinez, who is also a former soldier, and fall 2010 winner Jennifer Grey). The professional winners during the past several seasons have often been different, with only dancer Derek Hough winning twice in the last six seasons, when he won the title for the spring 2010 and fall 2010 seasons.

When you take into account the additional new faces and dance styles, the sixteenth season of Dancing with the Stars could prove to be most entertaining.
