iPhone 5 coming soon to T-mobile
The Apple iPhone 5 is finally coming to T-mobile and beginning April 12th, T-Mobile customers may purchase the iPhone 5. Prices for the iPhone 5 will start at $99 for a two year contract. Service fees for unlimited talk, text, internet and 500 MB data will start at $50 per month, a price that is cheaper compared to other phone carriers.
Currently, T-Mobile is the only major U.S., carrier to not carry the Apple iPhone. During an event in New York on Tuesday, T-Mobile CEO John Legere said that with the absence of the iPhone it “was such a huge void in our device portfolio.”
John Legere also addressed his competitors Sprint, Verizon and AT&T; “Stop the bulls**t. Carriers are really nice to you… once every 23 months.” What Legere was referring to was the fact that Sprint, Verizon and AT&T only give discounts to customers if they agree to a monthly contract for iPhone.
Still, with T-Mobile to begin offering the iPhone 5 on April 12th, customers in some cities may find it difficult to access high-speed data. For T-Mobile has just began to offer high-speed data for the iPhone but it is not available in all cities.
With this new partnership of Apple and T-Mobile, Apple hopes to boost it’s third quarter earnings. Apple will gain an additional 42 million subscribers with it’s partnership with T-Mobile and T-Mobile’s pending merger with Metro PCS.
Now, the only large carriers not to carry the iPhone are China Mobile (703 million subscribers) and NTT Docomo (61 million subscribers.)
