COMEDIAN GEORGE WALLACE TO HEADLINE ‘COMEDY IN THE 106’
LVMPD officers who work in an area of town that is traditionally called ‘The west side’ have been working diligently on an on-going series of events that address crime, safety and quality of life. The series’ focus is on the 89106 zip code and its residents. Patrol officers, Black Police Officer’s Association members, and Community Oriented
Policing officers have all banded together to bring hope, health-care and humor to 89106 residents. For example, “Santa in the 106” brought a non-traditional Santa and Mrs. Claus to children in the area. Mr. and Mrs. Claus’ skin tone matched those of the children they served as they handed out toys. Recently, The Bolden Area Command officers took many eight and nine year-old children from the area for their first haircut, and provided hygiene supplies and instruction. The 89106 series brought star NFL running back and Las Vegas native Demarco Murray to visit school kids. The Academic All-American reminded the children for the need to apply themselves in school.
The program now works towards its largest event ever, “Comedy in the 106” starring Las Vegas Strip headliner George Wallace. The event is hosted by “Mike P” with special guest comedian Symmie Mitchell. Music is by DJ Thump. This evening of ‘Healing Through Laughter’ will be Thursday, March 21st inside the Dallas Ballroom of the Texas Station Hotel/Casino. Show time is 6:00 p.m.
