Lil Wayne retiring after The Carter V
Lil Wayne has announced that after he releases ‘The Carter V,’ he will retire from rap. The rapper has been rapping since age 8 and with ten albums and numerous mixtapes under his belt including his newly released album ‘I Am Not A Human Being II.’ Now, Lil Wayne is ready to call it quits and retire at the age of 30 but fans wonder will Wayne really retire and when can ‘The Carter V’ be expected.
“Carter V is my last album. Man, I’ve been rappin’ since I was 8 years old. I’m 30 now, man. That’s a long time, man,’ Lil Wayne said in an interview with Sway Calloway back in November.
It was an interview that sounded to be quite convincing but still leaves many to wonder will Wayne really retire or just take a break. Fans have heard this before when Jay-Z announced his retirement from rap but he returned to the rap game and released new albums.
It seems rappers like Jay-Z and Lil Wayne just want to take a break and see who will miss them in their absence and why not both have strong fan bases and are two of hip hop’s biggest names.
Just as Jay-Z returned it is only a matter of time before Lil Wayne does the same after his retirement. Still, with no expected date for the Carter V, Wayne can release in a few years from now or as early as this year.
So, what is one of Hip Hop’s biggest names to do in retirement if he does in fact retire. Jay-Z upon his “retirement” from rap became president of Def Jam, Lil Wayne is already president of his own label, Young Money. So, does this mean the rapper will take on a bigger role as a background player and work more with his upcoming artists. Wayne has not made this information known or provided further details for his life in retirement.
In fact Lil Wayne has yet to give a time table for his much anticipated Carter V release but fans can look forward to his upcoming tour with fellow star rapper T.I. as the two hit the road together with their ‘America’s Most Wanted’ tour. The tour kicks off July 5th and Lil Wayne’s ‘I Am Not A Human Being II’ is available worldwide now.
