Penn: Woman Shot, 2 Year Old Son Killed
Penn: Petersburg, on Saturday, a man was to have a custodial visit with his son. The visit was to take place at his mother’s home in Barree Township. 52-year-old Kenneth Ayers got into an argument with his estranged wife, Hollie Jo, and pulled out a .40 caliber hand gun then proceeded to shot her in the legs and arm. He then intentionally shot his 2-year-old son Michael, killing him. He took the boy’s body and placed it in his vehicle. When the boy’s mother grabbed the body, he shot her in the face. He also shot at his mother, but missed.
Statistics prove that the majority of woman killed, using handguns, are women who know their assailant, and children.
Ayers had a protective order filed against him by his wife, but was allowed visits with his son.
Several hours after the shooting, Ayers was found in his truck in a wooded area in Warriors Mark Township. He was deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Hollie Jo was transported to a hospital and expected to survive.
Huntingdon County District Attorney George Zanic said, “words can’t describe the scene … heartbreaking.”
