Update: PRO FOOTBALL NEWS: Peyton Manning in Major Car Accident? Twitter Hoax?

Peyton manningA spokesperson for the Denver highway safety authority (HSA) has confirmed that Peyton Manning has broken both of his legs in a traffic altercation. He has been transported via ambulance to a local Denver hospital for treatment, and the full extent of his injuries are not known at this time, however, both of his legs were visibly broken and not life threatening according to sources.

Team spokespersons could not be reached for comment at this time.

Additional details and information will be updated as it becomes available. This story is still developing

Sources yet to be confirmed.

UPDATE:

We have since been informed that this maybe a hoax. I am unsure at this point whether that is correct. However, I am in the process of checking my sources and will provide updates as soon as possible.

I apologize for any confusion caused.

I posted this story in good faith, and have since discovered the alleged hoax started with this link http://www.democraticunderground.com/10022465106.

It disgusts me that people would cause harm this way and I in no way, purposely set out to give false information.

I have since confirmed, that the information I gathered from my sources, and from other research, that it is indeed a hoax. I apologise profusely.

I am grateful to you, my readers, that you alerted me to the potential hoax, which has allowed me to further my research. As I had noted in comments, I now know how the major news sites like CNN and NBC felt, when they too, were mislead by a twitter hoax in 2000, in regard to Al Gore winning.

Once again I apologise.

  4. Matt Woodard March 5, 2013 at 7:06 pm

And supposedly, he’s in K.C today, returning from his overseas USO trip.

  5. Michelle March 5, 2013 at 7:03 pm

is this real can’t find it anywhere else?

  6. Matt Woodard March 5, 2013 at 7:02 pm

Is this for real? There doesn’t seem to be an actual “Denver highway safety authority” peyton supposedly doesn’t own a BMW. Not a word of it on Espn or nfl (tv or Internet) nor the broncos site, nor the Denver post. If this is a hoax or headline grabbing, someone should lose their job.

That’s awful, hope he will recover soon.

The Patriots would be fine without Gronk. This takes nothing away from the man who has been the prototype for the revolution the tight end position has underwent in recent years.
