Atlanta: Fedex Vehicle driver ejected from car during traffic coalition

On April 11, 2013 shortly after 8pm, Zone 1 units responded to a fatal accident on I-285 north bound near Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway.

Preliminary investigation shows the driver of a Fed Ex vehicle was operating a tractor with twin trailers traveling north bound on I-285, one half mile south of Hollowell Pkwy exit.  From witnesses accounts the driver  changed lanes from the left to the right  and collided with Orji Brown’s white Maxima.
Both vehicles struck the right guardrail and traveled in the grass area off the roadway. The tractor trailer jacked knifed and flipped, coming to a final rest on its side. The driver, who did not have on his seat belt was thrown to the passenger side and was partially ejected.  He was deceased on the scene.  Mr. Brown was transported to Grady hospital complaining of neck and back pain.  He is expected to survive.

At this time no charges have been filed as this is an on-going investigation.
