Fairfax boy found safe mother arrested abduction charge

On the morning of Wednesday, April 17 2013 an alert citizen contacted the LVMPD Missing Person’s detail to report the possible sighting of a child reported nationally as abducted. The citizen had viewed a local morning news broadcast in which a missing person flier which had been distributed by the Fairfax Virginia Police
Department was displayed. The citizen believed they had observed the mother and child on Tuesday night at a local Strip Hotel.
The LMVPD Missing Persons Detail initiated an investigation into the report. The initial investigation revealed the mother, Rebecca Sarafin, was wanted on felony kidnapping charges from the State of Virginia in connection with the unlawful taking of her five year old son, Cameron. With the assistance of Luxor Security Officers and the Nevada Taxi Authority, investigators were able to track some of the pair’s movements throughout the Las Vegas area over the previous 24 hour period. The investigation ultimately led to an offstrip apartment complex where the mother and son were taken into custody without incident.
Rebecca Serafin, also known as Rebecca Love, will be booked into the Clark County Detention on fugitive charges stemming from the Virginia kidnapping warrant. Cameron Serafin has been taken into protective custody and awaits the arrival of family members.
