Georgia Hostage Situation Ends
A HRT threw flash grenades into a Georgia home where four firefighters were being held hostage at gunpoint. They are all safe, and the hostage taker is dead.
One police officer received a superficial wound.
“He wanted his power and cable TV turned back on.” That’s what one of the hostages told rescuers. The house was under foreclosure and ready for sale.
“The SWAT team commander believed their lives were in immediate danger and it was the time to go in there,” he said
An explosion was heard about 7:35 p.m., followed by several gunshots. The wounded officer was shot in an arm or hand.
The situation began about 3:40 in the afternoon, and ended around 7:30.
The man called 911 saying he was having a heart attack. When firefighters arrived he kept four inside the residence and told the 5th to move the truck.
