Plane debris from September 11 terrorist attack found near ground zero
It has been twelve years since the 9/11 terrorist attacks but the memory of that day still lives on and not just for New Yorkers but for all Americans. It is a day that is unforgettable and one where many will always be able to recall where they were when they heard the news of the attacks.
For New Yorkers though they have had to live not just with being present in the same city as the attacks but also present during the cleanup, rebuilding and now building of the Freedom tower which is just a few days away from completion.
Now, it seems and 12 years after the attacks, landing gear from one of the planes that crashed into one of the towers was recently found. The landing gear was found wedged between 51 Park Place and 50 Murray Street, not far from where the World Trade Center towers once stood. Also, home to where the proposed site for the Muslim Community Center will stand.
According to surveyors investigating the site where the landing gear was found and police there was a piece clearly visible that read the Boeing aircraft’s identification number.
Also, this site is now being treated as a crime scene as possible human remains may have been found.
Still, and as it stands today 41 percent of the 9/11 victims have yet to be formally identified.
