Ray J has been making headlines lately, first with the release of the cover art for his latest single ‘I Hit It First,’ a song that references the R&B singer’s ex-girlfriend Kim Kardashian and now with the release of the single. During their relationship Ray J and Kim made headlines then as well as a sextape, which skyrocketed Kim to fame.

Now, Ray J is back and reminding people of his and Kim’s love affair and the tape they made together.

For the cover of his single, there’s a pixelated photo of Kim Kardashian, similar to that of Kanye West’s album “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.”

Just a few days before the release of his latest single ‘I Hit It First,’ Ray J took to his twitter and tweeted:

“Lol have some fun! It’s not that serious!! #LIVE!!”

Also, during an interview the R&B star and actor in an interview with Hot 97 radio was quoted as saying, “It’s a song, it’s not about that, it’s about a concept. People going way too deep. They just gotta keep it on the surface. I’m not trying to create no war, it’s all love; we’re doing music.”

With lines like, “She might move on to rappers and ballplayers/But we all know I hit it first I had her head going North and her ass going South/But now baby chose to go West,” it is clear the song is about his ex who became famous off the pair’s sex tape.

Many may ask why after all these years must Ray J now release such a song, however, for Ray J it can be seen as a great marketing idea. Kim and Ray may have dated years ago and the sex tape a thing of the past but fans of both stars and the media still show interest whenever it is brought up.

Kanye West has not voiced or ranted on the single but sources close to him say he is not happy about the song.

So, as Kim battles her estranged husband in divorce court she now has to hear about Ray J’s new single ‘I hit it first.’ Makes you wonder now, will Reggie Bush or another one of Kim’s exes come out with something against her next.

Next for Ray J, he is planning a return to TV in his new show BGC allstars on Oxygen.

‘I Hit It First’ is available now on itunes.
