As much as I dislike wimpy Democrats, I disrespect Republicans even more. The RNC, ignoring the mood of the American people, has taken a firm stand against same-sex marriage.
Why, if at the CPAC they continued to profess the simple fact that if they don’t change, they’ll continue to lose elections, do they continue to wage a war against women, LGBT, and illegal immigrants? Political questions always have the same answer, follow the money.
First of all they passed this resolution to appease the extreme right wing faction of their fragile party. When you’re dedicated to policies that are designed to appease your own party members, and less concerned with representing the American public, you’re in serious trouble.
But the main reason is to support their base, that small group of special interests who ensure their re-election. As long as there are no term limits for congress, we will continue to have the most evil group of people running our lives, “professional politicians”.
“Let me make crystal clear something I’ve said since January,” RNC Chairman Reince Priebus said in a speech before the vote on the resolutions. “While we have to do things differently, there’s one thing that can’t and won’t change: our principles. There are some that would like us to abandon them, but as long as I’m Chairman, we’ll stay true to them. Some would have us turn into Democrats-lite, but I refuse.”
Let’s analyze Priebus’ statement. Never mind, I won’t waste my time or yours, he’s simply a f***ing liar.
The Republican Party has no principals. The Republican Party does not exist. It has become the TEA Party, and let’s call it what it is. They’re a group of extremists. They are the “old, white man’s party” fearful of having to look for a real job, and adopting the ideas of the most extreme group in their party to keep large campaign contributions and kick-backs coming in. And do not forget that proof of their loyalty is demonstrated by one single act. The majority of Republicans have sworn an oath to a lobbyist, a criminal lobbyist, Grover Norquist never to raise taxes. They believe in that oath, but deny the one they took when they were sworn in, to serve the American people.
I’m not going to give the Democrats a break either. Beginning with the President down to the most junior member of the House, they are cowards.
Let’s go all the way back to the vote to go to war, or actually the vote to invade, Iraq. The majority of Democrats voted along with “W’s” party to send young men and women into harm’s way, knowing it was under false pretenses, and not having received an exit strategy. It was the most rash action taken by our government in my lifetime. To his credit, I will praise Mr. Obama for being one of the few who voted against it.
Now let’s talk about the most recent example of the shameful left, the 2012 election.
The Democratic Party’s platform was geared to the middle class, Hispanics, women, and the LGBT community. And it worked. Their’s was a sound victory. They promised many things, and few of those have been kept.
Promises made to the LGBT community and to Hispanics, principally in respect to immigration reform, have received some consideration, some effort. Democrats are wiser than their Republican counterparts, they see into the future and realize that these groups will be a large part of their “base”.
Women, who in the near future will be the largest voting group, have been given token consideration. Congress did pass the “Violence Against Women Act”, but continue to vacillate on a woman’s right to her own body. They’re afraid of that battle. Government continues to be a male dominated establishment.
Lastly, all promises made to the working class and seniors have been ignored. They were lying to us to get elected.
They, especially the President, promised us they would make the wealthiest of Americans pay their fair share of taxes. They promised us social security and Medicare would be untouched. We know now they were blatant lies.
A two party system is a failed system. When two political parties control the direction of a country, that country will fail. Its people will suffer from the ambitions of politicians, who have only their personal welfare as a concern. Look up the definition of politician, and you’ll understand.
So, who will I vote for in the mid-term 2014 elections. I live in Nevada, so I can vote “none of the above”, and that’s exactly what I plan to do.
