Twitter Testing New Music App by Invitation Only
Twitter has joined the online music industry this week with their new app featuring the technology of We Are Hunted, the proprietary software system that constantly scans the internet to find the hottest new music in the world. A proverbial “match made in heaven”.
The app will analyze user account information, twitter feeds, listening habits, and users’ friends in order to make recommendations for new music. Twitter hopes to revolutionize the way music is enjoyed digitally and socially.
While Twitter has yet to make a formal announcement regarding their new music app, We Are Hunter shut down their website on Thursday, April 11, and made the following announcement, “There’s no question that Twitter and music go well together. Artists turn to Twitter first to connect with fans, and people share and discover new songs and albums every day. We can’t wait to share what we’ve been working on at Twitter.”
Twitter is expected to roll out the app publicly next week; so far, only celebrities or those affecting the music industry have been invited to use it. Ryan Seacrest, of American Idol fame has been using it today; he tweeted earlier, “Playing with @twitter’s new music app (yes, it’s real!).” (nytimes.com)
So, if you are anxious for the next up and coming technologically advanced wave of social entertainment, turn to Twitter; they are looking for ways to keep you logged on longer, stay tweeting, and discussing everything from music to what you had for breakfast.
