Brad Pitt Slams Marriage to Jennifer Aniston in new Esquire Magazine Interview

Brad Pitt appears on the cover of Esquire’s June/July issue and gives and interview revealing some little-known details about his life with ex-wife Jennifer Aniston.  Pitt slams his marriage to Anniston, and gushes about Angelina Jolie.

Pitt says he was on drugs during his marriage to Aniston, whom he divorced in 2005, and that he was burnt out and wasting an opportunity.  He claims he made a conscious decision to make a change about 10 years ago after having an epiphany.

“For a long time I thought I did too much damage – drug damage. I was a bit of a drifter. A guy who felt he grew up in something of a vacuum and wanted to see things, wanted to be inspired. I followed that other thing. I spent years f***ing off,” Pitt tells Esquire. (foxnews.com)

His epiphany drove him to the set of Mr. and Mrs. Smith where he met and fell in love with partner Angelina Jolie.  The pair has six children; Pitt says the relationship now has him on cloud nine.

He describes the house as a chaotic jumble of giggling, screaming, crying, and banging children that he loves.  He gushes about loving his life, saying, “I love it. I love it. I love it. I hate it when they’re gone. I hate it. Maybe it’s nice to be in a hotel room for a day – ‘Oh, nice, I can finally read a paper.’ But then, by the next day, I miss that cacophony, all that life.” (foxnews.com)

However, while he is all sunshine and happiness about his life with Jolie, he has criticized his past life with Aniston before; Pitt has blamed the Friends star for the fact that he was living an uninteresting life.  In 2011, he told Parade Magazine that he was “Trying to pretend the marriage was something it wasn’t” and that he was “sitting on a couch, holding a joint, hiding out”.  (foxnews.com)

The ostentatious Pitt diagnosed himself with prosopagnosia, the inability to recognize somebody by face (aka facial blindness).  In the Esquire interview, he says, So many people hate me because they think I’m disrespecting them, so I swear to God, I took one year where I just said, ‘This year, I’m just going to cop to it and say to people’ — ‘Okay, where did we meet?’ But it just got worse. People were more offended.”  (ontheredcarpet.com)

Pitt recently came out as supporting Jolie for getting a double mastectomy after learning of her family’s health history.  Jolie found out she had an 87 percent chance of developing breast cancer and opted to have the controversial surgery.  The couple kept the surgery private for months, only making the news public after her recovery.

Representatives for Pitt and Aniston have not comment on the Esquire article.

Aniston is currently engaged to actor Justin Theroux of Tropic Thunder, Iron Man 2, and Rock of Ages. Aniston most recently starred in Marley and Me, He’s Just Not That into You, and guest starred on Cougar Town.
