Chicago Police Seize Narcotics on the City’s South Side

CHICAGO – Chicago Police arrested and charged two South Side men after a recent narcotics investigation led to the seizure of over a kilogram of heroin.

Jeffery Watson, 44, of the 200 block of East 32nd Street, and Albert L. Askew, 61, of the 400 block of East 80th Street, were both charged with one felony count of Possession of Heroin – More than 900 Grams.

On Tuesday, May 7th, 2013, Chicago Police officers acted upon information regarding possible narcotics trafficking in the area of 400 block of E. 80th Street in Chicago. Officers, while conducting surveillance, observed Albert Askew take possession of a package containing a large quantity of suspect heroin and relocate to the 7800 block of South Calumet Avenue. He met with Jeffery Watson and placed the package in a black pickup truck that Watson was driving. A short time later, officers were able to detain the vehicle, along with both offenders, allowing them to execute a search warrant during which the narcotics were recovered and both Watson and Askew were taken into custody.

As a result of their investigation, Chicago Police officers seized one pickup truck, over 1,000 grams of Heroin with an estimated street value of over $100,000.00, and over $1,500.00 in United States Currency.

Both Watson and Askew are expected to appear in Central Bond Court on May 8, 2013.
