Fat Joe going to jail?

Tax evasion catching up with Joe

Fat Joe pleaded guilty because he had been evading the tax man, this happened back in December 2012. He hadn’t paid up the $700,000 in income taxes for 2007 and 2008. At the moment it could be entirely possible that he needs to go to jail. During his appearance on MTV Rapfix yesterday he was showing concern about the situation and he didn’t shy away from his responsibilities.

However strong and in control of the situation he might seem he does blame some people for this unfortunate situation: “guys who are supposed to have Harvard degrees.” Fat Joe isn’t hiding behind this statement and thinking that it will get him off the hook. He knows it’s serious and that he shouldn’t dismiss the claims like most other artist seem to do.

Yesterday he told MTV’s “RapFixLive” : “I can’t really explain that ’cause I got a real court case going on, like facing jail time. But I guess after June 24. Hopefully, it goes well,” said Joe.

In the end, Fat Joe is the one who is responsible and needs to pay up. He can’t hide behind “You gotta understand we hire guys who are supposed to have Harvard degrees and to take care of us.” He continued and explained that: “At the end of the day, I’m paying all the money back that’s owed — actually I have and I’m just go like a man, stand up,”

Because according to Joe: “All the time you see artists, the first thing they did to you when you caught money was introduce you to a bunch of fancy guys with bow ties who are gonna take care of your money and all that and then you always see an artist or a celebrity or somebody like that goin’ down for it and these guys never go down for it.” If truth be told nobody wants to get blamed for somebody Else’s screw ups or even worse going to jail for these people. However how Fat Joe has walked into this trap remains to be seen. As well as what will happen to him after the 24th of June. If he does go to Jail for tax evasion he will join the ranks of:

– Wesley Snipes was sentenced to 3 years in prison for willful failure to file federal income tax returns, however he was released on Tuesday, April second 2013.

Snipes did have some advice in case Joe might be in need of support: “Nobody wants to get locked up, although ‘locked up’ is a matter of perspective. There can be people who are out who are in prison mentally and emotionally and worse off than those who are behind bars.”

– Lauryn Hill, she has been sentenced to 3 months in Federal prison for the same charge as Fat Joe, she once said: “I tried to manipulate and control people, and I harbored resentment. I wanted to be forgiven, but I wouldn’t forgive others.”

– Lil Kim even though she didn’t go to prison for the tax evasion, which she denied, she had to spend some time in jail because of perjury charges.

Hopefully for Fat Joe it won’t come to all of that.
