Where they were going is unsure at the moment, but 5 of 9 women in their 30’s were killed in a limousine when it caught fire on a bridge.
They were going from Alameda to Foster City. While crossing the San Mateo bridge, the limousine became engulfed in flames. Of the 9 passengers and a driver, 5 escaped. They attempted to rescue those left inside to no avail.
As the driver and 4 women were making their attempt, several good Samaritans joined the effort, but they were all unsuccessful.
The area of the incident is about 20 miles southeast of San Francisco. It occurred around 10 p.m. Saturday night.
Reports say that it began when smoke began escaping from the rear of the limousine. The driver pulled it over to the side of the road, and it quickly escalated into an inferno.
The four women who escaped were taken to two local hospitals. One had severe burns, and the other three were treated for smoke inhalation.
