Harvard professor sorry (or, how did we get out of this infinite loop of mea culpas?)
Happy Cinco de Mayo! To celebrate, I’ll start by just getting some less-than-happy thoughts off the brain.
THIS JUST IN courtesy of the LA TIMES: Another Harvard professor is apologizing. Again. For saying something that some over-sensitive peanut gallery witnesses decided to take offense over. Again. Wait, is this supposed to be news?

Let’s get real people, and maybe just this once let’s let bygones be bygones and let Mr. Niall Ferguson carry on with his Happy Cinco de Mayo day instead of laying up at night wondering what idiot thing he’ll say next to piss off an “intellectual” audience.

Rinse and repeat after me: Intellectual and academic freedom means true freedom. Freedom to make mistakes, freedom to engage is free and open discourse about today’s most pertinent topics; freedom to house a true marketplace of ideas. I’d like to get myself out of this circus madhouse of “I’m sorries”, please.
