Johnny Depp and actress/model, Amber Heard, are back on again.
The two have had a tumultuous relationship since first meeting on the 2011 film, The Rum Diary. The duo was spotted getting cozy at a Rolling Stones concert last month in Los Angeles and have been seen together numerous times since then.
Heard was rumored to have had a relationship with French model Marie de Villepin during her last split from Depp, but the pair now seems so serious they are rumored to be talking children.
The 27 year-old actress has also been known to have relationships with women, saying in a 2011 interview, “I don’t label myself one way or another – I have had successful relationships with men and now a woman. I love who I love; it’s the person that matters.” (metro.co.uk)
Besides his personal life, the actor is busy, Depp will be entering a new genre of character this summer when he plays an American Indian in Walt Disney Pictures’ Lone Ranger. Depp transforms himself into Tonto, longtime friend of the legendary Lone Ranger for the Disney Film.
The action-adventure movie with a western flair will be released to theaters on July 3, stars Depp, Armie Hammer as John Reid/The Lone Ranger, James Badge Dale as Dan Reid, and Helena Bonham Carter as Red. In it, Tonto narrates the untold stories of legendary lawman John Reid.
Like many of Depp’s other characters, Tonto has a distinctive look making Depp almost unrecognizable; from the white painted face to the crow on his head; the trailers draw you in, “Eight men rode into canyon… I dug seven graves. Horse says, you are spirit walker: a man who has been to the other side and returned, a man who cannot be killed at all…” Tonto, speaking to Reid.
Since the 1980s, Depp has been dazzling audiences with his portrayal of everything from a twenty-something undercover police, a vampire, a hairdresser with hands of scissors, a chocolate factory owner, every day people, to a murderer. With over 45 film credits, Depp has become a household name.
While he can seemingly fit into any role and is considered one of the most versatile actors of his time, Depp is most known for his role as the quirky captain of the pirate ship in Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean series. Depp plays Captain Jack Sparrow in the film series that was originally loosely based on Disney’s theme park attraction of the same name.
The successful first movie, The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003) led to the rest of the series: Dead Man’s Chest (2006), At World’s End (2007), and On Stranger Tides (2011). There were talks of a fifth and sixth installment in the series being shot back-to-back, however, it has since been announced that only a fifth movie will be created. Pirates of the Caribbean 5 is scheduled for production and will be released July 10, 2015 as a stand-alone film, according to an announcement from Disney.
Orlando bloom has expressed interest in returning for the fifth installment of the series. Of the plot, Disney will only respond, “Will Turner’s story might not be finished…” (moviehole.net)
The 49 year-old actor has celebrated many successes throughout his career; in 2003 and 2009, he was named “Sexiest Man Alive” by People Magazine; he won Best Actor for Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street; and he is listed in the 2012 version of Guinness Book of World Records as the highest paid actor, with $75 million.
In 1999, Depp was honored with a star on the celebrated Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The adaptable actor has even had his hand in music, playing slide guitar on English rock band Oasis’ song Fade In-Out in 1997 and on Fade Away.
Some of Depp’s personal escapades may be more in line with the crazy Captain Jack Sparrow than the Sexiest Man Alive persona; when some think of Johnny Depp, it is hard not to forget the “Winona Forever” tattoo inked on his arm. Forever was not a constant for the quintessential Hollywood playboy, when they broke up, he had the tattoo altered to have the “n” and the “a” removed so it now reads “Wino Forever”. There is nothing like wearing your heart on your sleeve (or advertising your shortcomings).
The tattoo did not hurt his love life, however, following his engagement and subsequent breakup from Winona, Depp has been engaged to supermodel Kate Moss, he has had a relationship with French actress Vanessa Paradis with whom he has two children.
