Kate Upton Lands Vogue Cover for June Issue

Kate Upton Lands Vogue Cover for June Issue

Swimsuit favourite Kate Upton has handed the cover of the June edition of Vogue. And in keeping with her Sports Illustrated swimsuit history, she’s in another swimsuit.

Kate who landed the number 8 spot on Maxims top 100 sexiest women list, is spreading her metaphorical wings and branching out all over the media circuit. This wonderfully curvaceous model who graced the covers of not one but two Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issues in 2012 and 2013 has also worked on her acting career.

So far she has been in three films; The Three Stooges and Tower Heist and the upcoming film, The Other Woman, starring Cameron Diaz and Leslie Mann. Riding the wave of her Sports Illustrated popularity, Kate says, “I’m American, more is more.” Which seems to indicate that she has her sights set on more acting roles in future.

Kate has also said that she wants to design her own line of lingerie, presumably to help to flatter women with a fuller figure, like her. In the issue of Vogue she talks about her all natural famous curves, “I can’t change my bra size. They’re natural! I can work out and I can stay healthy and motivated, but I can’t change some things. I really just live my life. I love my body. It’s what God gave me! I feel confident with myself, and if that inspires other women to feel confident with their bodies, great.”

Ms Upton, who was the face of Guess (the American clothing line) in 2010 and 2011, burst onto the international favourite Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue by featuring in the body paint section and was named Rookie of the Year for the issue. Then she landed the cover, a highly sought honour, two years running and she’s in the 2013 Maxims Top 100 list, it appears that the world could just be her oyster.

Kate was “discovered when she attended a casting call in Miami for Elite Model Management in 2008 and was signed by them the same day. She later moved to New York City, where she then signed with IMG Models. Her star was firmly launched into the public eye by not one but two viral YouTube videos.

In April 2011, the same year of her Sports Illustrated debut, an internet video of her doing the “dougie” hip-hop dance at a Los Angeles Clippers game went viral and served to increase her popularity and build up a huge fan-base. Then on April 30, 2012, a bikini-clad Upton performing the “Cat Daddy” by The Rej3ctz in a video directed by Terry Richardson also went viral, amassing almost 750,000 views in the first 24 hours.

To date, the hip-hop video has 2,234,480 and the bikini video has over 16 million views. With more videos on YouTube that have been posted by bikini.com Kate has an additional six to seven million views on the internet alone.

She has also appeared on several television shows as well as ranking number three on the American publication of AskMen’s Top 99 Women for 2013 coming behind Jennifer Lawrence (who was number one) and Mila Kunis (who was number two).

Kate is also the only other model besides Tyra Banks to be on consecutive covers of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition. For the record that hasn’t happened since 1997. It seems that Kate Upton is moving up in the world of modelling and media.
