According to E! Online Katrina Bowden, the “ex” 30 Rock actress married musician Ben Jorgensen on Sunday in New York City.
The wedding ceremony was held at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden and the couple exchanged rings and vows before they set off to Hawaii for their honeymoon. The two lovers have a website that their loved ones can access to donate to their “honeymoon” fund and fans can get in on the action as well by contributing for the pairs planned volcano hike or you can help them upgrade their travel plane tickets to First Class.
Bowden and fiance Ben planned the wedding themselves, an experience that she admitted was, “overwhelming.” The two lovebirds were the ones who chose the location and she revealed that, “It was the first and only place we visited.”
On the day of the ceremony the vows that the couple exchanged had been written by them and Katrina revealed that she had trawled Pinterest for hair ideas to give her stylist Josh Perez. She finally settled on something that she described as, “up and kind of messy, kind of like a chignon.”
24-year-old Bowden played Cerie, Liz Lemon’s assistant on 30 Rock and she has also appeared in numerous other television shows and movies, most recently appearing in Scary MoVie aka Scary Movie 5; but perhaps the less said about that film, the better.
Katrina’s new husband Ben is five years older than her at 29 and this patriotic 4th of July baby boy played guitar for and was the former frontman for the band, Armor for Sleep.
The newlyweds got engaged in January 2012, and Katrina announced the momentous event on the red carpet at that year’s Screen Actors Guild Awards. While talking to reporters she took the opportunity to show off her ring and she told E! News’s Giuliana Rancic that Jorgensen had proposed the night before in Los Angeles.
Of the engagement Katrina told Guilianan at the time that, “He proposed and showed me the ring and I was so shocked and said, ‘Oh, my God!’ and I hugged him and he said to me, ‘So is that a yes?'”
In keeping with the celebrity ongoing trend of using Twitter to keep fans updated with the more interesting (and more mundane) aspects of their famous lives, after the ceremony had finished, the new Mrs Jorgensen tweeted, “I married y’all!!! I’m now Mrs. @benjorg !!!
Ben responded with a tweet of his own that read, “Is there a cloud 10?”
It seems that the couple did more than find the location for their wedding and they used the self-help approach for more than picking out Katrina’s hairstyle for the big day and it appears that her luck held while she was searching for her wedding dress. She only tried on a couple of gowns at Amsale before she saw a picture of a dress that they didn’t have in the showroom. She then decided to come back when they had it in stock and according to her, that was it.
She said, “I knew that was the one. I was like, ‘Okay, this is it. Let’s do this.”
Hubby-to-be Ben was in on every step of planning the ceremony and he was “instrumental” in picking the music for the ceremony and reception. He helped pick the song Bowden walked down the aisle to: a string-quartet version of Aerosmith’s “Don’t Wanna Miss a Thing.”
We hope the couple find that “cloud 10” that Ben tweeted about and we also hope that they didn’t “Miss a Thing.”
