Detectives Seek Public's Assistance Identifying Suspect in Robbery and Carjacking

On May 5, 2013 at approximately 4:20 a.m. LVMPD patrol officers responded to the 3800 block of East Lake Mead Boulevard to investigate reports a vehicle had struck a power pole causing a localized power outage. The vehicle was located at the scene of the accident. The driver of the vehicle and a male passenger were located in a business at the intersection of Lake Mead Boulevard and Walnut Road. The driver, who was suffering from an apparent stab wound, was transported to the UMC Trauma Center by arriving medical personnel. The passenger was uninjured LVMPD Violent Crimes Detectives determined the driver and passenger were attempting to leave the parking lot of a business in the 3700 block of East Lake Mead Boulevard when an unknown suspect approached and attempted to rob the driver and take the vehicle. The victim drove away with the suspect hanging onto the driver’s door, and after the vehicle struck the power pole both the driver and passenger fled the area on foot.
The suspect in this crime is described as a Hispanic male adult, 20 to 25 years of age, standing 5’8” to 5’10” tall and weighing approximately 170 -180 pounds with a bald head. He was last seen wearing a dark blue sleeveless t-shirt and dark pants. The suspect is also described as having an unknown type tattoo on his upper left arm.
