COLLISION DETAILS:
On May 11, 2013 at approximately 10:59 p.m., a Hit and Run Auto / Pedestrian collision occurred on Jones Boulevard at the intersection of Saddle Avenue. Witness statements and evidence at the scene indicate the Nissan Exterra was traveling south on Jones Boulevard approaching the intersection with Saddle Avenue. The pedestrian was crossing Jones Boulevard eastbound from the west curb towards the east curb. As the Pedestrian entered the middle southbound travel lane of Jones Boulevard, the left front of the Nissan struck the Pedestrian. The Pedestrian was thrown forward coming to rest in the inside south travel lane of Jones Boulevard. As a result, the Pedestrian was transported to UMC Trauma by ambulance from the scene, and was pronounced deceased by medical personnel approximately an hour and a half later. The Nissan Exterra drove away from the scene without stopping. The Nissan was recovered a short time later south of the intersection of Jones Boulevard and Flamingo Road. This is the 42nd traffic related fatality in the LVMPD’s jurisdiction for 2013. The collision remains under investigation by the LVMPD Accident Investigation Section.
