Las Vegas: Nathan Benson suspect of fatal stabbing on Grayhawk

On April 28, 2013 the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department investigated a fatal stabbing in the 6300 block of Grayhawk Avenue. During the investigation Homicide Detectives developed Nathan Benson, 27 years of age of Las Vegas, as the suspect in this murder.
On April, 29, 2013 at approximately 8:39 pm LVMPD patrol officers responded to the area of Rainbow Boulevard and Alta Drive where murder suspect Nathan Benson was
reportedly sighted by citizens. Although officers quickly responded to the area Benson was not immediately located.

Several patrol units who were searching for Benson remained in the area. After a short time Benson was observed on Rainbow Boulevard by officers, who attempted to contact the suspect. Benson however fled on foot. Officers pursued Benson Southbound on Rainbow Boulevard to an area just North of Alta Drive where the suspect was stopped.

Officers observed Benson was holding a large knife. The suspect was ordered to put the knife down, but refused to comply with any commands and charged officers. Two officers
discharged their firearms, striking the suspect multiple times in the abdomen. Arriving medical personal transported Benson to the UMC Trauma Center in critical condition.
Per LVMPD policy the officers involved in this incident have been placed on routine paid administrative leave. Their names will be released after 48 hours.
