Lebron James wins his fourth MVP
Miami Heat’s Lebron James has joined an exclusive club after receiving one of the NBA’s highest awards, MVP. Lebron James joins elite NBA players such as Michael Jordan, Wilt Chamberlain, Bill Russell, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in winning at least four MVP trophies. Lebron at 28 years old also became the youngest to receive the NBA honor for the fourth time. Lebron received 120 of 121 first-place votes by league media members and analysts.
So, who received the other vote taking away an unanimous selection for MVP, it was New York Knicks Carmelo Anthony who was picked by Boston Globe writer Gary Washburn.
Carmelo Anthony had nothing but good words for Lebron James, saying: “LeBron gets it, I take my hat off to him, he deserves it. They had a helluva year, to win 27 straight games, a hell of an achievement.”
As for what Lebron thought about not getting the unanimous selection the four time NBA MVP had this to say; “It’s probably a writer out of New York that didn’t give me the vote. I know the history between the Heat and the Knicks. So I get it.”
The runner up’s were OKC’s forward Kevin Durant finishing at second, New York Knicks Carmelo Anthony third, Los Angeles Clippers Chris Paul fourth and Los Angeles Lakers Kobe Bryant in fifth.
Now, Lebron has his sights on facing off against the Chicago Bulls tonight in round two of the eastern conference semi-finals.
“It’s how it should be in the East right now. It’s the top four teams. That’s what I believe. No matter the seedings, it’s the top four teams, with us, Chicago and Indiana-New York,” Lebron said.
“Over these 46 years, I’ve had an opportunity to see some great players — and all the ones I’ve observed, watched and have seen, they’ve always gotten better. In my humble opinion, I believe the man right here is the best of them all,” Pat Riley said of Lebron winning his fourth MVP.
