Police Shoot and Kill Suspect in San Diego

A man who robbed a Bay Terraces gas station was pursued by police in the San Diego suburb, who shot and killed him.

The incident happened just before noon on Friday.  A short distance away, the bandit crashed his car, took off running, and for an unknown reason shot another man in the foot.

Police positioned themselves so that they could scour the neighborhood, and not let the perpetrator escape.  In addition a SWAT team was called in.

The suspect was found, and he was shot, dying on the scene.  There is no information if the deceased fired his weapon at police.

Both an area elementary school and middle school were put on lockdown.
