"Repelvicans” Should Form the “Family Values Cheaters Caucus”

Former “Repelvican” Governor Mark Sanford cheated on his wife four years ago when he left for five days and went to Argentina to be with his mistress. He lied about it told everyone he was hiking in the Appalachians and he later paid a $70,000 ethics fine, the biggest in South Carolina history, for spending state money to fly for private purposes.

To make things even worse, three weeks ago, his ex-wife filed a court complaint that he was using her house and violating their divorce decree. This resulted in the National Republican Congressional Committee removing its support from his campaign. Despite this disgrace and the loss of GOP support, Repelvican Presidential hopeful Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) strongly endorsed him!

Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain was accused of sexual harassment by a few different women and after his 13 year affair surfaced, he left the race.

Disgraced Senator John Ensign (R-NV) had the raunchiest affair of all with the wife of one of his best friends, who was also a very close personal friend of his own wife. He later admitted the sordid affair and resigned in shame as Chairman of the Senate Republican Policy Committee.

Senator Larry Craig, (R-ID) was arrested and charged with lewd conduct in a Minneapolis airport men’s room in 2007 and Representative Mark Foley, (R-FL) was accused of sending sexually obvious emails to young male congressional pages and he resigned. Former Senator Pete Domenici (R-NM) had a son outside marriage 3 decades ago with Michelle Laxalt, a staffer and activist.

And who can forget former Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger’s (R-CA) multiple allegations of womanizing and then his cheating scandal escalated with the discovery of his illegitimate son with his former housekeeper. Even more astonishing, his illicit son was born the same week as his legitimate youngest son.

None of these would be nearly so bad if these “ Repelvicans” did not always preach their “Family Values.” The hypocrisy is colossal! Maybe if a few more of these disgraced politicians can follow Mark Sanford back to Washington, we can finally have the much needed “Republican Family Values Cheaters Caucus.”
