With the freshly released news that actor Rob Lowe is to play John F Kennedy in a National Geographic docu-drama later this year, it seems somewhat appropriate to ask the question: were they both sex addicts?
President John F Kennedy was assassinated on November 22, 1963 while in a motorcade that was passing through Dallas, Texas. The assassin was one Lee Harvey Oswald who himself was killed before he could stand trial by local nightclub owner Jack Ruby. Ruby, who had Mafia connections, died in 1967 from a heart condition.
It seems almost serendipitous that Lowe with his 1988/1989 sexual scandal was chosen to portray JFK who also had his fair share of sexual escapades while he was alive.
In 1988, Lowe was involved in a sex scandal over videotape footage of him having sex with two women, one of whom was 16 and the other 22. They were filmed with Lowe during the night before the Democratic National Convention in Atlanta, Georgia. Lowe asserted that he did not know that the second girl was underage, and it was confirmed that he had met the two at a bar. Lowe was, at the time, actively campaigning for Michael Dukakis.
More footage from the videotape was leaked at the time, showing Lowe and his friend Justin Moritt, later the line producer, both having sexual intercourse and oral sex with a young American model named Jennifer, in a hotel room in Paris.
This section of the video tape was sold as one of the first commercially available celebrity sex tapes, damaging his public image. Eventually, his career rebounded and Lowe mocked his own behavior during two post-scandal appearances as a host of Saturday Night Live.
While the scandal drug on, Rob Lowe’s career looked to be ruined and he later admitted to being a sex addict. John F Kennedy also had a pretty voracious sexual appetite and it was only after his death that the public learned of how he too was obviously a sex addict.
The alleged affair with Marilyn Monroe, whom he allegedly shared her with brother Bobby (who was also assassinated on JUne 6, 1968) and his alleged affair with Judith Campbell whom he allegedly shared with Mafia leader Sam Giancana have both been aired and publicised. Although the Monroe allegations have yet to be proven to the public’s satisfaction but, Campbell herself has claimed that the affair with both men did happen, along with an affair with Mafia leader John Roselli.
But these were not the only sexual liaison’s of JFK while he was president of the United States of America. Just recently a book was published about the late actor David Niven. Niven who won an Academy Award for his portrayal of a sex pest faux Army Major in the film Separate Tables and who lost his first wife to a horrible accident at a party, was married later to Hjördis Paulina Tersmeden a divorced Swedish fashion model.
In his book Niv: The Authorised Biography of David Niven, author Graham Lord says that President Kennedy allegedly passed on a STD (sexually transmitted disease) to Hjördis below decks on a yachting party while Niven was topside visiting with the other guests. According to Lord, Niven did not find out about the sexual liaison until years later.
While the above mentioned events are but three instances of women who were allegedly used by Kennedy as sexual diversions, there have been a long list of alleged affairs that took place because of the man’s voracious sexual appetite.
While the serendipity and delicious poetry of “self-confessed” sex addict Rob Lowe, playing the part of John F Kennedy in a television docu-drama is too difficult to ignore, it does bring up the question of whether or not the late JFK was also a sex addict, and if it were so, would explain a lot about his “extra-curricular” activities between the bedsheets. The Kennedy docu-drama program will air later this year on the National Geographic Network.
