Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Benedict Cumberbatch, Alice Eve, and Zoe Saldana were all on hand for the UK premiere of their new movie. “Star Trek Into Darkness” is the follow-up to J.J. Abrams’s 2009 blockbuster reboot. The sequel follows the Enterprise crew as they engage in an epic battle after being summoned home only to discover Starfleet in ruins. They venture into a war zone to find the villainous John Harrison responsible for the devastation.
” The Sequels often do that where they kind of start and assume that you care.”
“So we really had to say ‘forget it, start over.’ Of course knowing that fans of Star Trek are vocal and passionate and so if you are fan of Star Trek you will see things that will be rewards and references you will get, jokes you will get but you don’t need to have seen it before.”
For Chris Pine, who plays Captain James T. Kirk, it also served as an opportunity to catch up with some old friends.
“There’s a rapport that I think has built up over how many years now, four or five years,” said Pine.
“It’s just a matter of being friends which is great. And that is the ultimate treasure of this whole experience is that you get walk away with these beautiful, wonderful people as your friend.”
Fans went crazy for the Sherlock star, who plays villain John Harrison in the new sequel, giving him the loudest screams as he arrived on the white carpet, and the rest of the cast hailed his acting as out of this world.
Star Trek Into Darkness is slated for IMAX release in the US on May 15 and will hit regular theaters everywhere on May 17.
