There are all kinds of flight horror stories. This one has gotten United Airlines over Lewd Conduct.
We all have our own personal flight horror stories. From getting stuck overnight in an airport due to a flight being cancelled due to weather to an actual airline hijacking. Monica Amestoy’s story is right up there with the most disgusting.
Amestoy’s, who is 18-years-old and was 17-years-old at the time, story starts with a return flight from New York City to Los Angeles as she was New York for a high school debate tournament.
According to KTLA, via TMZ, on a United Airlines flight home last October, a male committed lewd conduct by exposed himself and masturbating in front of Amestoy. Amestoy immediately told a flight attendant about what was going on, but the flight attendant had some bad news for her.
“I thought he would tell the man to stop or move. He did neither. The flight attendant told me that he couldn’t move me because there were no seats available in my class,” Amestoy said.
Amestoy complained numerous times to the flight attendant, but nothing was done.
As for the passengers nobody had a clue what was going on. The reason being the man concealed himself under a blanket and would stop when the flight attendant was near.
Once the United Airlines flight landed, Amestoy was picked up by her father who called authorities and informed them about the lewd conduct when he got home.
For those of you who think this is some wild made up story you would be wrong. The man was arrested prosecuted, convicted and ordered to register as a sex offender. Famed high power attorney Gloria Allred is representing Amestoy and her family.
The reason that Allred and her client is speaking out is to protect future victims.
“We have filed this lawsuit and are speaking out because we want United to have a clear policy that they implement to protect victim passengers in the future,” Allred said.
United Airlines released a statement in response to the lawsuit, but of course they gave they usual yeah we care and we will look into it line.
“The comfort and security of our customers is our top priority, and we will closely review this complaint when we receive it,” United Airlines said in the released statement.
The fact of the matter is that this should have never have happened in the first place. Amestoy should have been moved to the first class section or the man should have been removed from the coach section and put somewhere else.
The other thing that is disturbing is that Amestoy’s parents had to be the ones that informed the police. For the flight attendant or the flight captain, if he was indeed told by the attendant, to not say anything to ground control over what is happening is downright disturbing.
Obviously, the flight attendant is either a miserable person or just a complete moron that lacks commonsense. Seriously, how the heck do you not do anything in the situation?
Oh well, it looks United Airlines is just going to learn the hard way through this lawsuit over lewd conduct.
