Zoe Saldana is nude in the June issue of Allure Magazine. The Avatar and Star Trek actress has decided to show us her birthday suit.
Although this is not their annual “get naked” issue, Zoe is doing the photo shoot all bare.
In the interview Zoe revealed that she knows what she wants out of life, She said, “If I have something good in front of me — it doesn’t matter if it’s a person or a pair of shoes — I’m not going to test something else.”
She also speaks about the celebrity dating game as in she’s done all that, dating the rich and famous and actors. She said that after 12 years of dating entrepreneur Keith Britton, and brief, rocky affair with Bradley Cooper, she is single again. In a revealing comment on her time spent dating other actors she said, “Been there, done that, got the T-shirt.”
Zoe even talks about her sexuality. She said, “[I might] end up with a woman raising my children … that’s how androgynous I am.”
She takes a lot of pride in her ethnicity. She remarked “It doesn’t matter how much backlash I will get for it, I will honor and respect my black community because that’s who I am.” Considering that her latest role of Lt Uhura in the JJ Abrams Star Trek reboot was considered a breakthrough for ethnic minorities when Nichelle Nicols first took on that role in the original tv series, we think she is justified in those feelings.
Zoe added, “It’s hard enough to be a woman on this earth. So to be an American or black or Latina, it’s arbitrary compared to our battles as women.”
She also talks about what she expects out of life. She said, “It’s OK to say, ‘This is what I want’ — and go after it. And if it doesn’t happen, it’s OK. Be a reasonable person with yourself.”
Saldana got her big breakthrough role in the 2000 film Center Stage and the 2002 film Crossroads. She then got a huge amount of recognition and attention for her roles as Anamaria in Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, she also had a lead role in the action film Colombiana.
But it was when Zoe lept onto screens as the CG character Neytiri in Avatar, where the CG created characters very much resembled the actors who portrayed them in the film. Her appearance in the film developed a huge fan base from that film alone and there were a lot of people excited when it was announced that she would be the “new” Uhura in the Star Trek reboot.
In a case of perfect timing, the magazine will be released while the new Star Trek Into Darkness film is showing in its initial theatre run world wide and in the US.
With the newest Star Trek utilising 3D and hitting IMAX theatres worldwide, it would not be too inconceivable to think that Zoe Saldana’s more ardent fans are wishing fervently that her nude pictures in Allure magazine were also in 3D.
The magazine hits newsstands on May 21.
