When it comes to last week’s viral video du jour, authorities are not clowning around when it comes to the naked acrobat in the BART subway station in San Francisco last May 10.

Yeiner Garizabalo has now been identified as the young man in the video who was seen doing acrobatics, assaulting passengers, and finally collapsing on the floor in convulsions, all while naked. The man also attacks an elderly man and a younger woman in the video.

Most of the spectators simply stop and stare, a few try to help, however most try to walk on by and pretend nothing unusual is happening and that the situation that is unfolding is completely predictable.

Eventually, after several minutes, the police come and the unclothed man is taken into police custody and held for a mental evaluation.

Garizabalo, 24, also goes by the name Yeiner Perez, and until recently, was a member of the performing group ClownSnotBombs Circus.

The circus is a non-profit community circus troupe in the Bay Area. Their group posted a notice on their website stating he was no longer a part of their organization. They went on to add, “To our knowledge, Mr. Perez never exhibited this type of behavior previously and this episode came as a complete surprise to us. Our hearts go out to those who were impacted by this incident and Mr. Perez himself. We believe Mr. Perez has a medical issue and hope that he receives the medical help that he needs.” (cnn.com)

The young performer has now been charged with battery and released after being given a mental evaluation. Garizabalo now faces a myriad of charges. He faces seven charges: he is accused of four misdemeanor counts of battery, two felony counts of false imprisonment, and one misdemeanor count of sexual battery.

Bail was set by a judge at $100,000 for Garizabalo, after he was re-arrested on Monday. He will be arraigned today.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials have now stepped in as well, and Garizabalo will likely be deported after he faces the current charges; however, authorities are not releasing his country of origin at this time.
