Billy Ray Cyrus, father to Miley Cyrus is going to get Tammy Wynette. In case you are not a country music fan, you may not know that one of the late Wynette’s biggest hits was the song D-I-V-O-R-C-E. Wynette died in 1998 and her divorce song was a colossal hit in 1968.
Billy Ray Cyrus and his wife Tish are heading down the path to divorce once again, after Tish Cyrus filed dissolution papers Thursday in L.A. Not to be outdone by his, “soon to be ex missus” Billy Ray filed a claim for divorce as well, also on Thursday.
It’s not the first time in their 19-year marriage that Miley Cyrus’ mother and father have seriously contemplated getting a d-i-v-o-r-c-e. At least one previous motion was filed by the 51 year-old country music singer in October 2010. Billy Ray filed but then changed his mind and withdrew his petition five months later.
53 year-old Tish, has said that she doesn’t want her maiden name back. The mother of five is seeking spousal support, which, we presume, used to be called alimony in the old days. She also wants the payment of attorney’s fees as well as the legal and physical custody of daughter Noah Cyrus aged 13. Noah is the only one of their five children who is still a minor according to TMZ.
The divorce petition gives “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for ending their 19 year marriage.
The couple both released separate but almost identical statements to People magazine and both Billy Ray and Tish called the divorce petitions a “personal matter” that would be resolved in the “best interest of our family.”
Since Billy Ray and Mrs Cyrus are filing for a Tammy Wynette, the 51 year-old singer at least knows what to do and what to expect. This is not his first time down that thorn littered path.
If nobody changes their mind, this will be Cyrus’ second divorce. His first marriage It would be a second divorce for Billy Ray, whose first marriage ended in 1991. He and Tish married in 1993.
From 1986 to 1991, Billy Ray was married to Cindy Smith. The two Smith’s co-wrote the songs, Wher’m I Gonna Live? and Some Gave All. Both of the songs featured on his 1992 debut album Some Gave All
Billy Ray Cyrus married Leticia “Tish” Finley on December 28, 1993. The couple had three children together; Miley Ray, who was born Destiny Hope in 1992; Braison Chance who was born in 1994 and Noah Lindsey who was born in 2000.
The 51 year-old singer also has two adopted stepchildren from wife Tish’s previous marriage; Brandi who was born in 1987 and Trace who was born in 1989. The 23 year-old Trace is the former singer and guitarist for Metro Station. Billy Ray also has a son, Christopher Cody who was born in 1992. Christopher’s mother is Kristen Luckey, who had an earlier relationship with the country signer. Luckey, raised Christopher in South Carolina.
Cyrus adopted both Brandi and Trace when they were small children. Cyrus told ABC News: Primetime in a 2004 interview that his and Tish’s daughter Miley and Christopher, his son with Kristen, were both born in 1992. Billy Ray was not married to either woman at the time and he revealed that he married Tish the year after Miley was born in a secret ceremony.
Tish was pregnant with their second child at the time of the ceremony and Cyrus said that the two got married against his record company’s advice.
Unless either party backs out, Billy Ray Cyrus will be getting a Tammy Wynette style d-i-v-o-r-c-e in the near future from his w-i-f-e. We hope that the two have told M-i-l-e-y.
