Brad Pitt surprised four World War Z audiences on Thursday by popping into sneak previews of his latest zombie-packed thriller, World War Z.
Brad greeted the audiences cordially, and offered them snacks and free T-shirts which he helped hand out after the shows were over.
Atlanta was Pitt’s first stop on his promotional blitz. There, he brought up in passing how well the Atlanta Braves were playing baseball.
Then, it was on to Philadelphia, where he told the assembled audience: “I just crushed a cheesesteak next door. It really is the perfect sandwich.”
Pitt’s third stop was in Chicago, where he barely made it to the movie theater in time and was out-of-breath when he addressed the audience. He told them:
“Hope everyone has done their business, got their snacks, cuz once this thing starts, it does not let up.”
“I love you, Brad!” a fan shouted.
He smile and promised, “It’s the most intense thing you’re gonna see all summer.”
Pitt’s last destination on his promotional movie tour was in Austin. According to USA Today, a newscaster there with “Ain’t It Cool News” Harry Knowles, asked Brad what he would do to keep his wife Angelina Jolie and their children safe during a zombie apocalypse.
“Get the fastest car you can find. Cuz those are quick!” Brad then added, right before World War Z began, “Mr. Knowles, with your permission, let’s kick some zombie (butt)!”
The audiences in each of the four cities were enthusiastic, and cheered when they saw Pitt, who co-produced the movie as well as starring in it.
Many sources have practically written off World War Z before it has ever appeared in the theaters. This is because Paramount Pictures pushed the opening of the movie from when it was scheduled to be released last winter to this summer. This was to allow for a full-scale rewrite and reshoot of the ending of the horror flick.
This move suggested Paramount Picture’s dissatisfaction with how the movie had been shaping up. Often, whenever a movie studio has acted in such a way, it’s not a good sign that the film will be successful. However, World War Z has gotten some fairly good reviews by movie critics at its sneak preview, so maybe Brad Pitt has managed to transform World War Z into a box office winner, after all.
You can view the latest extended video trailer from World War Z below. It’s pretty cool. It starts off a bit slowly, but then the action starts to pick up. Remember as you watch it these words:
“In an isolated system, entropy can only increase.”
World War Z opens in theaters on June 21st. It stars Brad Pitt, Mireille Enos, Eric West, Matthew Fox, David Morse, and James Badge Dale.
