Channing Tatum and his wife Jenna Dewan-Tatum have had their new baby! And According to Us Weekly it is a girl. Jenna gave birth to the baby in a London hospital on 30 May.
Tatum and his wife met on the set of the film Step Up in 2006. They dated for three years and then decided to make it permanent in July 2009. Then the news came out last year that the couple were expecting the first little addition to their family.
Jenna was more than a little worried about the change. She told Glamour magazine that, “I thought my body was going to change so quickly with pregnancy that I’d freak out. But it was really gradual,” She added, “There’s a reason women are pregnant for nine months; by the end, you’re ready to have this baby.”
The mother-to-be told Glamour magazine in April that until the new baby arrives, she really wouldn’t know what kind of parents her and Channing would be. She said, “Who knows what kind of parents we’ll be? We have two dogs, so we’ve had some practice! And as soon as this baby comes into the world, Channing and I will figure it out real fast.”
Channing Tatum and his wife Jenna spent most of their time in London together while he has been filming his latest film project Jupiter Ascending. Jenna was often spotted strolling down the streets of London and walking her two dogs through Hyde Park.
She did try to keep fans of her and Channing up to speed on how things were going by using the social network site Twitter. On May 2 she tweeted, “My big ol belly + London wind is making me re think my short dress idea today lol.”
She also tweeted about her pregnancy cravings, “Alright London tweeters: I need to know the best Mexican restaurant immediately. Pregnant cravings are calling.”
The 32 year-old actor and his wife of four years actually kept pretty quiet about the pregnancy and waited until Dec 2012 to announce the upcoming event. Although Channing did tell Ryan Seacrest that Jenna Dewan-Tatum would be delivering his and Jenna’s new baby in London because of the filming schedule of his new film Jupiter Ascending.
But despite keeping the news quiet, at first, the 32 year-old “sexiest man alive” admitted last month that he was a little apprehensive about becoming a new dad. While attending the first screening of the trailer to his new film, White House Down, Channing revealed that it was down to playing a father onscreen that he became nervous about what was going to happen when the baby finally arrived.
Channing Tatum may have been even more concerned if he’d known that his new baby is a girl. A lot of men feel quite confident if the first one is a boy, but less so if they are blessed with a daughter.
Tatum said, “It’s scary because I’m about to be a dad. It was kind of fun thought because it gave me a nine year look into the future and what craziness that is going to be. I’ve never played a dad and you never know what you are going to be asked to do – I’ve never been a Dad, you have to figure it out. But I loved it, it was great.”
Channing’s daughter in the film is played by 13-year-old actress Joey King. The actor admitted that after working alongside her he would love his child to turn out the same way she did.
The 32 year-old actor said, “Little Joey King is this unbelievable beautiful little monster, she is such an amazing little actress and we had so much fun on the movie. If I could have little Joey as a daughter I would absolutely love that.”
“She acted all of us under the table. We have like an almost 40 minute long secret hand shake and I really enjoyed it. So whatever we have whether it’s a boy or a girl we’ll definitely have an hour long secret hand shake,” he added.
So despite his worries it sounds to us like the “sexiest man alive” wil also be the “coolest dad ever!”
The new parents will be trying to get used to having this new addition to their small two dog family, we’re sure. They must be glad the the waiting is over. Considering that Jenna is married to the man who has been voted the world’s sexiest man alive, she must be feeling pretty content right now.
The “Step Up” couple have been together for four years and not only do they still love each other, they’ve started their family. Both of the new parents had expressed concerns on how they would do when the baby finally arrived.
But “pre-parental” nerves aside, they must be one of the few couples to have been to the United Kingdom who have the best souvenir of their visit. No t-shirt for them, oh no; they’ve got a baby to show for their stay!
We know for sure that the news that Channing Tatum’s new baby is a girl must have him feeling pretty confident and after his on-screen parentage with Joey King, he’ll be developing that “secret handshake.”
