In real American Idol style Diana DiGarmo marries her fellow finalist Ace Young while surrounded by friends and family Saturday evening at the Luxe Sunset Boulevard hotel in Los Angeles, according to People magazine.
Ace Young aged 32 told the magazine after the ceremony that, “Today was the best day of my life. Diana and I are in it forever. She’s my best friend.”
The 25 year-old bride, Diana DiGarmo, wore a form-fitting Sareh Nouri gown with pearls and rhinestones. According to the Los Angeles based luxury bridal expert, Renée Strauss who organised the wedding, “It was the first dress she tried on. She knew immediately that it was the perfect dress for her.”
Somewhat amazingly, the dress was accessorized by a beaded belt, custom veil, and blue cowboy boots. Strauss said of the combination, “If you didn’t know better, you’d think the dress and boots were made for each other.” And the bride, DiGarmo agreed, “Believe it or not, the boots totally worked!”
The wedding colours were purple and yellow. Ace wore a custom-made box suit with a crest designed by Renée Strauss which had the couple’s monogram with “Forever Young” emblazoned underneath.
According to Strauss, “They wanted to put their personal touch on the wedding.” Renée has coordinated weddings for some of Hollywood’s elite, with Heather Locklear and Valerie Bertinelli as past clients. Strauss said, “We all worked together to make sure every detail was special.”
Diana DiGarmo marrying Ace Young was an emotional moment. But not just because she was getting married to the love of her life. Something else was getting her all teary-eyed.
Diana told E! News that having her brother there was an extremely touching moment for her, because he had come back from Afghanistan just to walk her down the aisle. She told the magazine that when she first saw her him, “It took every ounce of strength I had not to burst into tears.”
The 25 year-old bride then said, “When we turned the corner and I saw Ace at the altar it was beautiful.” But Diana wasn’t the only one feeling all over emotional by the moment, Ace was feeling teary as well. He said, “I was crying before I even saw Diana walk around the corner.”
After walking down the aisle to the Wedding March being played on a harp, the wedding was performed by music writer Fred Bronson. The couple exchanged vows that they had written themselves and then went back up the aisle to strains of Led Zeppelin’s “All of My Love.”
The wedding ceremony’s 250 guests included fellow Idol finalists Elliot Yamin, Michael Johns and Kevin Covais. Quite a few of DiGarmo’s co-stars from The Young and the Restless were also there, including Christian LeBlanc and Tracey Bregman.
After the ceremony, all the guests headed to the reception where a menu of filet mignon, chicken, salmon or pumpkin ravioli awaited. The couple had two wedding cakes. One was a traditional vanilla cake and the other was a banana chocolate chip cake. The couple had recorded an original song entitled “I Do” for their first dance.
Diana DiGarmo Young told People magazine, “This was the best way to start the chapter of my life as Mrs. Young. I’m over the moon with joy and happiness about our wonderful wedding. I can’t wait to spend my life with my husband!” She must have meant it or she wouldn’t have married Ace Young in the first place!
