Bruce Springsteen and his E Street band stopped performing for a moment in order to inform the public that they would dedicate the remaining part of their concert to James Gandolfini. This also included guitarist Steven Van Zandt who used to be James his Soprano colleague.

James Gandolfini became an A-Lister when he portrayed Tony Soprano on “The Sopranos.” He was one of the actors in a new kind of TV serie that helped shape American drama broadcast on television. Before “The Sopranos” TV shows weren’t as elaborate or made it that same manner. James was in Italy to be part of the closing ceremony of the Taormina Film Festival in Sicily, which would be held on Saturday.

James hadn’t been sitting on his Soprano laurels, he has portrayed several silver screen characters since “The Sopranos” saw their final season appear on TV. Among those movies were “Killing Them Softly” and “Zero Dark Thirty,” a film about the chase of Osama bin Laden. We will still get to see one more performance by Gandolfini in the upcoming HBO series: “Criminal Justice.”

It is very touching to see that Bruce Springsteen devoted his whole performance to his great friend James. It might a bit strange that a stripper honored Gandolfini with a last dance but not if you considered he liked to squeeze in some stripper viewing time after he had been in character as Tony Soprano. James and Lynn actually had a bond, and she said it’s a huge loss.Mister Gandolfini will be missed, however we are lucky that we are fortunate to have his great legacy. Tony Soprano will continue on.
