Lady Gaga was present at the gay pride kick-off, just like Cher today. Lady Gaga who has always supported the gay community has been away from the lime light for several months due to her hip surgery. (She was very successful in hiding herself away from the public eye. Before she would do anything to get attention but during her road to recovery their was no place for public attention.) Some sources speculate that Lady Gaga is done with. That because of this hiatus she has lost a lot of fans and they have moved on to greener pastures.
Lady Gaga wanted to celebrate the “normal” proceedings of gay pride but of course also the strike down of the Defense of Marriage Act, DOMA, and rebuff of California Prop 8. (She hasn’t reacted yet on Alec Baldwin’s mayor screw up the other day. When he went on a homophobic Twitter rant and GLAAD seemed to condone this.) Lady Gaga did tweet: “We stand tall today.#DomaStruckDown So many fought for so long. Be proud, the prejudice are now the minority.” It is done, no more Doma. GLAAD can sigh with relief and celebrate until the sun comes up.
Gaga gave a heartfelt speech yesterday touching upon the difficult road which still lies ahead for most people. She said: “We are not a niche. We are part, a big giant part of humanity. It’s time for us to be mainstream, I demand the rights! To safe streets!” Lady Gaga had the audience really going at this point and she belted out: “Enough is enough, enough is enough.”
Not only did she have this empowering, enthusiastic, heartfelt speech she also sang the national anthem a Capella. In her usual Gaga way she changed the lyrics a bit:”Oh say, does our star-spangled flag of pride yet wave.”
At the moment her fans seem to be very pleased to have her back. While others are speculating if Lady Gaga is still relevant. Some go as far as saying that she is done, over, needs to go home. They think she has had her moment to shine, and now that the gay community has had several successes is she still necessary? What’s next for Gaga? What do you think? Are there still concepts left for the Lady to surprise us with or has her time come and does she just need to step aside?
Some people actually felt totally out of touch with her, they were saying that she used the operation on her hip as a cover up to get liposuction and that she abuses the gay community. However as long as their is no proof regarding these accusations there is no reason to go into further detail. The only thing that matters is if you are a Lady Gaga supporter, or little monster, like Gaga loves to say, is that she is back and hopefully is not done yet. Because she definitely proved one thing: she hasn’t lost her singing voice yet.
