The defending champs the Los Angeles Kings dropped another game to the Chicago Blackhawks tonight as their offense tonight only managed two goals in their 4-2 lost. As the the Kings head home for game 3, they will have their work cut out for them as the Kings look to get back into the series and defend their home ice; continuing their undefeated streak at Staples Center. The Kings have won 14 straight games at Staples Center, dating back to the regular season and this is not the first time the Kings have dropped two straight games but also lost the first two games in the first round of the playoffs against St Louis. However, the Kings reemerged and won four straight, defeating the St. Louis Blues.
In game 2 of the western conference finals, the Kings had to play without center Mike Richards who was removed from the roster due to an undisclosed upper body injury.
Before the end of the 2nd period the Blackhawks had a commanding lead, with two of their goals being back to back right after chasing the Kings goalie and last year’s MVP, Quick out of the game. The Kings did eventually get on the board before the 2nd period ended but the Blackhawks were hot Sunday night and the Kings just could not get anything going. Game 2 was a tough one for the Kings as the defending champs seemed to be off their game offensively and defensively, eventually dropping game 2 and allowing the Blackhawks to go up 2-0 in the Western Conference Finals.
Jeff Carter and Tyler Toffoli of the Los Angeles Kings scored the Kings only two goals in their lost to the Blackhawks, 4-2.
Game 3 is Tuesday at Staples Center with the action getting underway at 6pm PST.
