San Bernardino: The suspect sought in the murder of a West Hills mother has been captured in San Bernardino.
Today, the Los Angeles Police Department announced that Michael Kane had been arrested in the Joshua Tree area of San Bernardino. Investigators have been working around the clock in an attempt to locate Kane following the Saturday morning murder in West Hills. On Sunday, Kane’s abandoned vehicle was located in a parking lot by the San Bernardino Sheriff’s deputies in the Joshua Tree area. As a result of this discovery, investigators were able to direct their search for Kane to a possible relative’s residence in the Joshua Tree area.
Topanga homicide investigators prepared a search warrant for the location which was served with the assistance of the San Bernardino Sheriffs. Upon service of the warrant, deputies determined that Kane was not at that location. The deputies began to check local motels in the Joshua Tree area and located Kane at one of them a little after midnight this morning. Kane was then taken into custody without incident. Deputies observed numerous lacerations and puncture wounds on Kane’s body. Kane was transported to a local hospital for treatment of those wounds. Investigators were not able to determine when Kane sustained his injuries, but did state that the injuries were not life threatening and did not occur during his arrest.
Kane was ultimately transported to the Los Angeles County Men’s Jail where he was processed and booked for the murder of his wife. Investigators continue to work on this case and reiterate that anyone with information about it should contact Topanga homicide investigators at
