The NBA draft is underway, and the Milwaukee Bucks first pick looks to be a good one, at least according to Green Bay Packers Quarterback Aaron Rodgers. After the Bucks selected Giannis Adetokunbo with the fifteenth pick in the first round, Aaron Rodgers took to Twitter to tell the world he liked the Greek rookie.
Bucks pick looks good. Hopefully he’s got a mid-range J but if not, @DrewGooden knows a lil something about it

It’s hard to imagine a better start to a career than being praised by the state’s most popular athlete just minutes after being selected to play for a team in his area. Wisconsin possesses some die hard sports fans, and having the approval of Aaron Rodgers should do wonders to boost the Bucks draft pick’s immediate popularity.
At just 18 years old, the Greek star is still a relatively raw talent. The sky is the limit in terms of his upside, his athleticism is unquestioned, but as Aaron Rodgers pointed out amid his flattery of the Bucks draft pick, Giannis Adetokunbo still needs to work on developing a consistent jump shot.
If he can add a jumper to his game, the 6’9″ forward already possesses the vertical ability to get to the rim that NBA teams covet. His game has been compared to Kevin Durant’s by a European player who has faced off against both men during his career.
Unfamiliar with Adetokunbo? No problem. Watch the YouTube highlight reel below and see why Aaron Rodgers likes the Bucks first round draft pick enough to Tweet his praise.
The strengths of Giannis Adetokunbo’s game are vast. He has the ball skills teams covet, not turning the ball often and making the right decisions with the rock. He has played four positions on the court, giving him the versatility needed to find professional success. His physical abilities enable him to be a play-maker, and his body control allows him to thrive as a scoring threat in the paint.
As previously mentioned, the Bucks first round draft pick is relatively raw. In order to become a bonafide star in the NBA he will have to improve his outside game, and improve his defense. A consistent jump shot will be needed if he wants teams to respect him as a threat to score from outside the lane.
High praise has been given to the Bucks first round pick Giannis Adetokunbo from more than just Aaron Rodgers, as many scouts liked his potential as well. Giovanni Conte of the Basket Caffe described the 18 year old rookie as:
“A European rising star; a Greek long point forward. He has some unbelievable body skills: he is 6 ft 9½ with long arms, great coordination, perfect balance and impressive fluidity, that allows him to play all positions except center. His ball handling is simply amazing for a guy of this size, and also the court vision: he has all the characteristics of a point guard. He is skinny, but virtually unstoppable when he drives to the basket, with both hands. He is a high risk, he has no experience at a high level, lacks a specific role and his shot is not very reliable.”
Admittedly the competition he faced playing in Greek’s second league, Adetokunbo showed his full potential in back to back games last season in which he scored 41 points and shot 14 for 18 from two point range, making all of his free throw attempts as well.
A high risk, high reward prospect, Aaron Rodgers likes the Milwaukee Bucks first round draft pick Giannis Adetokunbo. Rodgers is quite the athlete himself, if the rookie can become half of the player the Packers have in Rodgers, they will have a chance to advanced beyond the first round of the playoffs, where they lost this past season.
