The National Football League over the past several years have been implementing new rules to keep players safe and from hurting themselves. It’s apparently NFL fans turn and let me tell you the NFL’s new standards are just ridiculous.
I remember going to Buffalo Bills games with the ability to carry in stuff that you needed for a game in any situation
Fans were able to bring in backpacks that had thermoses full of hot chocolate to keep you warm. If there was rain in the forecast your could pack a couple rain ponchos in a backpack and some small snacks stuffed in the middle of something soft, that way security didn’t catch it when inspecting the bag, so you can keep the kids happy until after the game.
Even though there is an assortment of technology and resources that can help keep fans and players safe, they choose to go about it their own way. So what are the NFL’s new safety standards that are just ridiculous?
- Bags that are clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and do not exceed 12” x 6” x 12.”
- One-gallon clear plastic freezer bag (Ziploc bag or similar).
- Small clutch bags, approximately the size of a hand, with or without a handle or strap, may be carried into the stadium along with one of the clear bag options.
- An exception will be made for medically necessary items after proper inspection at a gate designated for this purpose.
Items that are now prohibited are purses larger than a clutch bag, coolers, briefcases, backpacks, fanny packs, cinch bags, luggage of any kind, seat cushions, computer bags and camera bags or any bag larger than the permissible size.
What is next? The NFL not going to allow people inside the gates unless everything they are wearing are official NFL products? Man, I can see how a situation like that would go down.
Some old guy who has been a season ticket holder for decades walks up to the gate on opening day. The security guard inspects his clothes to make sure they are all NFL gear and he notices the socks aren’t NFL.
Security guard: Sorry sir. I cannot let you in.
Old man: Why?
Security guard: Your socks isn’t official NFL gear.
Old man: What my socks! Are you kidding me! I have been a season ticket holder for 30 years and I have dressed like this every single year!
Security guard: I understand sir, but the NFL passed new rules and we have to abide by them.
Of course the old man would eventually give up, go home and never see the game. He would be out of his money all due to the fact that the NFL’s new safety standards are just ridiculous.
Let’s face it. Terrorist aren’t dumb, they’re smart and they all aren’t some Arabs from the Middle East. The Boston Marathon Bombings proved that as the Tsarnaev brothers looked like every day Americans.
They won’t be coming through the front gate. They will watch, observe and learn where the weakest link is. Then they will exploit it and kill many innocent people that didn’t have to die.
Most people don’t mind new rules as long as they are common sense. However, the NFL’s new safety standards aren’t that as they are just plain ridiculous.
