One of Food network’s most famous and beloved cooks, Paula Deen has recently come under fire for her use of the N-word. Recently, during a deposition Ms. Paula Deen admitted to using the N-word but claims she is not a racist.
During the deposition in which Paula Deen is undergoing for a sexual harassment lawsuit, she was asked had she ever used the controversial N-word in which she replied, “yes, of course.”
Paula Deen also stated that she used the N-word “when a Black man burst into the bank that I was working at and put a gun to my head. I didn’t feel real favorable towards him.”
Ms. Deen also admitted to using the word when she had “conversations between Blacks” or was repeating racists jokes.
Continuing on with her deposition Paula also stated, “that’s just not a word that we use as time has gone on. Things have changed since the ’60s in the south. And my children and my brother object to that word being used in any cruel or mean behavior. As well as I do.”
One of America’s best known chef’s who happens to be black says he will still welcome Ms. Deen in his establishment. Chef Joe Randall said this of Paula Deen, “Her admitting to using derogatory language and the n-word is very hurtful. Deen would still be welcome in my establishment like any other client would be. I wouldn’t turn her down at all.”
