Season four will kick our virtual behinds according to The Walking Dead director. It will be “insanely filled with great drama”, does this mean more “love” stories? plot twists or will the zombies morph into even more lethal, killing, brain slurping, mean machines? Greg Nicotero, Special FX Make-up Designer, wanted us all to know that: “What’s nice about the first episode is that they always super size it and give you an extra day [to shoot] because they know that the script is going to be insanely filled with great drama and great action, we certainly didn’t skimp on anything in this one. The story arcs and the script this season are astoundingly detailed, and every single nuance is there for a reason.” If you think you might need some saving from possible zombie attack, this church has you covered:
Some insiders speculate that the new season will have it’s best script yet. They apparently changed some of the things the zombies can do. “[The writers have] introduced a way to make the zombies scary again,” Nicotero teased. “They’re terrifying. The new threat is just unreal.”
According to the shows fans: “That suggests to me one of two ways to go…… either they can now RUN (Dawn Of The Dead 2000) which means no more walking around them ignoring the 2 or 3 stragglers while having dialogue (as seen in recent episodes)…. or they are starting to get intelligence, which could mean zombies working as a team to corner their prey, such as attacking with some form of strategy or possibly learning to communicate with each other in some way to call reinforcements, etc.” Another fan added: “Personally I think the first idea is the better one and seriously hope they don’t head down a Resident Evil route and just have mutant zombies that can have strange things growing out of them or carry weapons, etc.” Now that we know that the zombies might possible be able to attack people in even more terrifying ways it’s good to know that at least one church thinks that the Walking Dead can be cured by Christ.
Apart from the newly adapted zombies the upcoming season has more surprises in store for us. For example: a new cast addition in the form of Larry Gilliard Jr. (Who you might remember for his role in “The Wire” as D’Angelo Barksdale. (He will see his co-star from the same show again in the form of Chad Coleman.) Larry will play Bob Stookey, a former Army medic. In order not to give too much information away, we won’t discuss in detail what his role will be about. However Stookey is a character from the “Walking dead” comic, in there, he struggles with his actions before, and after the zombie apocalypse. If the character is the same in the comic, as in the TV series, remains to be seen.
A final reassuring surprise will be that the TV series will go back to its roots. (In addition, as mentioned before, if you need some other kind of fortification: the walking dead can be cured by Christ. Just in case you were wondering.) The ending of season 3 seemed to indicate that the show would digress from the comic. However series creator Kirkman said that they will go back, and use concepts from the comic. According to Kirkman: “A lot of people seem to fear that we are departing from the comic book entirely by the way Season 3 ended. That is absolutely not the case, because there is an infinite number of things to mine from the comic book series, and we’re going to do that, there’s some really cool stuff in Season 4 that I think comic book fans in particular will be really excited about.”
