A massive jail break near Benghazi happened Saturday, allowing 1000 detainees to escape. Government official Mohammed Hejazi states that the jailbreak happened at Koyfiya prison while protestors were storming the Islamist Allied parties office. It is not known if the two events are related. An anonymous security official said most of the inmates were being held on serious charges. Demonstrators had gathered in protest of the killing of anti Muslim Brotherhood activist Abdul-Salam Al-Musmari.
Benghazi has been the center of controversy since an attack last year on September 11th, where US ambassador Christopher Stephens was killed.
