2013 has been a busy and event filled year for Amanda Bynes. The 27 year-old ex-Nickelodeon star has had more than her fair share of brushes with the law. But her latest “escapade” has landed her in a psychiatric hospital on a 72 hour hold order, after she started a fire in California.
The entertainment news site, TMZ has reported that law enforcement officials have confirmed that Amanda Bynes has been place on psychiatric hold after being arrested sometime after 9 pm pacific time. The local fire department had been called out to deal with a small fire at a home in Thousand Oaks, California. Not too far from where Bynes had just recently been accused of trespassing. A neighbour had spotted a small fire in the Thousand Oaks resident’s driveway and notified the fire department.
Once firefighters arrived to find Amanda Bynes standing near the small fire on the driveway, the sheriff’s department was called. When the sheriff’s deputies got to the address, they asked Bynes what she was doing and why she was there. According to the deputies, her answers were so far out in left field that they decided that the She’s All That star should be hospitalised on a “5150.
If you look up 5150 on the internet, it means – in police jargon – “a crazy person on the loose.” While a 5150 means “crazy person on the loose.” a “5150 hold” is involuntary hospitalization for mental evaluation. Amanda Bynes can only be on the psychiatric hold for 72 hours after starting her fire.
The residents of the house where Bynes set the fire, didn’t even know anything was going on. TMZ spoke to the woman who lived in the house and according to her, she had no idea anything was happening until after the Sheriff’s Deputies knocked on her door.
The woman said that the local law enforcement officials asked her, “Do you know anyone by the name of Amanda Bynes, or why she would have some vendetta against you?” The elderly resident responded in the negative and the deputies then told her that a young woman was in her driveway. They explained that the woman (Bynes) had lit a fire and was carrying a “little red gas tank.”
The elderly homeowner revealed that deputies told her that Amanda Bynes had set part of her own clothing on fire.
As mentioned above, the house where Bynes set the driveway alight was very near her other “run-in” with local law enforcement.
On Sunday night, July 20, the police responded to a disturbance outside a retirement facility after she’d had an argument with a taxi driver. The driver said that Bynes was attempting to enter the old folks home with the manager turning her away because it was thought the young woman was intoxicated. The same manager later accused Bynes of trespassing.
Apparently though, some helpful staff who worked at the retirement facility called Amanda a taxi to take her away from the premises. But once Bynes got into the car she shouted, to the driver, “Get me the f*** out of here … I don’t have any money.” Once he heard that his potential fare had no money, he apparently told Bynes to get out of this vehicle.
The police were then called to assist the driver. There is no record of whether or not Amanda was arrested or cautioned, or if any action was taken against her as a result of the call.
It is alleged that Bynes told the taxi driver before the police arrived that she had been “visiting a relative at the retirement home.”
Amanda Bynes has been in the news a lot recently with her many brushes with the law and this time, she’s been placed on psychiatric hold after starting a fire in the driveway of a strangers home, burning part of her clothes in the process.
