While there has been speculation for many months of Elisabeth Hasselbeck leaving the view, it is now official.
Hasselbeck’s 10-years as one of the host of the popular morning show “The View” is over and she is headed for Fox News Channel where she will join the panel of Fox & Friends in September.
As the Hollywood Reporter informed in March, the show is undergoing a number of changes and the fall season will look a lot different in terms of panelists and views.
The announcement came this morning as she and her co-hosts reflected and praised each other for the respect and tolerance each displayed in handling their differences in opinion on the show.
Hasselbeck has been accused of being “too extreme and right wing.”
According to Barbara Walters, Hasselbeck added a fresh perspective to the view.
“You always brought a fresh voice to the show, you stood by your opinions even when the debate got heated, that’s not an easy thing to do,” said Walters.
The View is going through a makeover Hasselbeck is not the only host leaving the show Joy Behar will also move on to other adventures in the fall.
“Fox, gee, won’t you be a fish out of water there?” cracked Behar, praising Hasselbeck as “professional” and calling their on-air arguments “exciting.”
“I just think you’re the cat’s meow,” said Goldberg, chiming in. “You’ve been a really good friend to me, and I appreciate you. And, you know, may we both continue to grow.”
Hasselbeck expressed her appreciation of being a part of the view, “the past 10 years have been nothing short of extraordinary,” she raved.
At the end of the show, Barbara informed Hasselbeck not to forget to take the time to “enjoy The View.”
