Fans in London received a rare treat when Jay-Z performed songs from his new album, ‘Magna Carta Holy Grail,’ as part of the three day Wireless Festival series of concert events. Justin Timberlake joined his friend on stage to belt out ‘Holy Grail’ with the rap sensation. If the lyrics sound similar, they should. Many of the lyrics were lifted and used from Nirvana’s top selling ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ record.
Jay-Z also treated fans to favorites, such as ‘Public Service Announcement (Interlude)’, the New Yorker then played ‘Heart Of A City (Ain’t No Love)’ and ‘Empire State Of Mind’. After the opening songs, fans roared as Jay-Z launched into new releases, ‘Tom Ford’, ‘Picasso Baby’ and ‘Somewhere In America.’
Jay-Z waved to fans as he walked on stage with his trademark bling, a heavy gold chain over his white short sleeved shirt. 24-hours previously, he had joined Timberlake during his song ‘Suit & Tie’ and the singing sensations shared in the duet delivery, much to the enjoyment of fans. Timberlake returned the favor and it’s the gift that keeps giving.
Jay-Z and Timberlake will be back today to perform a set that will bring the event to a close. The performances from Rita Ora, Emeil Sande and Tinie Tempah have made it a memorable experience for fans in attendance. Fans are hoping Jay-Z will perform more songs from the ‘Magna Carta Holy Grail’ album. Of course the wealthy artist also confessed that he had a good time as well.
Jay-Z, as reported by a source, flew in on a private jet, had five spacious suites at the Ritz and Savoy hotels for his massive entourage, and the crew received a generous supply of Rolex watches. The source stated, “‘The Rolex, jet, and suites were what was expected from someone of his stature.”
During concert travel, hunger is always a consideration for entertainers and their respected crews. Timberlake and Jay-Z both requested Nandos for backstage catering for their crew. Timberlake reportedly had placed a mobile Nandos in the venue’s VIP area, where sources stated he, Jay-Z and their teams devoured chicken wings and burgers. The ‘buddies of song’ collaborated on releasing songs from their much acclaimed recent releases. As Jay-Z enthralled fans with his new songs, Timberlake also debuted ‘Take Back the Night.’ He had teased the over 40,000 fans in attendance by asking, “Can I do something new new? Like brand spanking new baby ass spanking new?”
The screams escalated as Timberlake launched into a 2002 favorite ‘Like I Love You’ wearing tight slacks and a tighter shirt. Once ‘Suit & Tie’ started, Jay-Z jumped on stage and the crowd, as reported by one in attendance, ‘went wild with screams and cheers for the dynamic duo.’
The final day of the Wireless Festival is certain to bring additional lost voices and sweaty tears as the power team shares the stage one more time, before departing London. Many are looking forward to see either repeat performances of the recent releases, or additional new songs from the album. It has been a spectacular time for fans, the city and the singers.
