Just a few weeks ago Jenny McCarthy of VH1’s “The Jenny McCarthy Show” was grumbling about being single. Enter “Blue Bloods” star, Donnie Wahlberg and mega chemistry. Wahlberg made an appearance on McCarthy’s show and the fans were treated to sparks, pillow talk and how about those red lollipops?
The couple spent the Fourth of July weekend together, ‘hanging tough’ and introduced as the ‘new couple on the block’ to friends and family. McCarthy was a 90s Playboy Playmate and Wahlberg was part of the 90s super-star, boy band ‘New Kids on the Block.’ This brings nostalgia to fans of the decade.
During his appearance on McCarthy’s show, Wahlberg shared his love of talking “dirty during sex.” McCarthy seemed roused by the admission and asked Wahlberg to whisper “sweet nothings” into her ear. The publicity stunt proved to be more as fans reported seeing the sparks fly between the two celebrities.
A few days after the connection with someone who is on her wavelength, McCarthy received exciting news. Today, Barbara Walters announced McCarthy will join ‘The View’ in September as co-host after the controversial exit of Elizabeth Hasselbeck.
Viewers were thrilled to hear the news as Walters shared, ““She has connected with our audience and offers a fresh point of view. Jenny will be a great addition to the show as we usher in an exciting new chapter for ‘The View.'” McCarthy is no stranger to the ‘The View’ she has been on the show 17 times and guest-hosted eight of those times.
McCarthy has a son, Evan Joseph, from a previous marriage from ex-husband John Mallory, the divorce finalized in 2005. McCarthy has been a staunch advocate and activist of promoting autism related organizations, as her son was diagnosed with autism in 2002. She was famously linked to funny-man Jim Carrey between 2005 to 2010 before the couple split. McCarthy has always enjoyed humor, that could stem from the fact she’s related to the well loved comedian, Melissa McCarthy.
Wahlberg joined the pop sensation group ‘New Kids on the Block,’ in the 80s. The group put ‘boy-band’ on the map. He credits Michael Jackson for his love of music, and worked with friend Danny Wood to build a band. The group officially parted ways in 1994 after creative differences. After his stellar performance as an emaciated actor in ‘The Sixth Sense,’ the acting path exploded for the singing sensation.
Earlier this year, Wahlberg reconnected with his former bandmates and went on a package tour with boy bands ’98 Degrees’ and ‘Boyz II Men’ to sold out audiences. Wahlberg like McCarthy has one previous marriage with Kim Fey, after nine years together, the couple officially divorced in 2008. They share custody of their sons, Alexander and Xavier.
These powerful 90s stars have more than just the decade in common, they understand life as a single parent and this is important to McCarthy. She has stated in previous interviews having someone understand her son is important.
It has been an exciting and enthralling July for McCarthy as she connects with Wahlberg and starts her new job later this fall. ‘The View’ position places McCarthy into the daytime spotlight which can do tremendous things for her career. Bonding with the perfect man in Wahlberg for her, has completed her summer.
