Lady Gaga beat Justin Bieber to number one on the Forbes top-earning celebrities under the age of 30 list. Gaga earned a jaw-dropping $80 million dollars between the year span of June 2012 till June 2013. Imagine if it weren’t for that hip injury, she would have earned more!
Gaga is not new to the list, but this is the first time the ‘Born this Way’ singer earned the top spot. Bieber holds strong at number two. Not surprisingly, Taylor Swift claims the third spot on the list. The list definitely resounds with “I am woman, hear me roar!” as a majority of female artists and actresses top the list.
Gaga joins good company on the Forbes list which also mentions:
- Justin Bieber – $58 million
- Taylor Swift – $55 million
- Calvin Harris – $46 million
- Rihanna – $43 million
- Jennifer Lawrence – $26 million
Swift did drop in the ranks as she was listed as top-earner for Forbes list last year. What makes the list surprising is Gaga suffered from a hip injury earlier this year, which made walking impossible. That didn’t stop Gaga’s ‘little monsters’ from supporting her. Atop of being a Forbes winner, Gaga’s fans makes her a social media reckoning.
On Twitter, the top-earning singer has an impressive 39.2 million followers and it grows daily. On Facebook she has about 58.4 million fans following her every status update and ‘barely there’ pictures. This doesn’t include the excessive fan pages and her own website which generates millions of views monthly.
Gaga was born on March 28, 1986 in Yonkers, New York as Stefani Joanna Angelina Germanotta (a lot easier saying Gaga!). She was discovered by R&B sensation ‘Akon’ and her first record ‘The Fame’ reached platinum status in no time, thanks to the ‘Poker Face’ single which reached number one across all genres around the globe.
The famed ‘Paparazzi’ singer has been nominated over 350 times for a various amount of awards, her greatest collection of awards stems from the ‘MTV Video Music Awards.’ Gaga has made a splash in the music industry with her Madonna-esque shock value and naturally gifted voice.
Gaga won over millions of hesitant hearts during her HBO special documentary during her ‘Monster Ball Tour’ a couple of years ago. The megastar revealed her insecurities, admitting, “I still sometimes feel like a loser kid in high school and I just have to pick myself up and tell myself that I’m a superstar every morning so that I can get through this day and be for my fans what they need for me to be.”
Fans took to Facebook to share their love Gaga, promoting her presence on a global scale. She is in the same exposure bracket as Elvis, Michael Jackson and most notably Madonna. The singer has been accused of stealing similar themed music from Madonna. The ‘Express Yourself’ icon has rebutted against the sting, stating that “imitation is the greatest compliment.”
Gaga’s imitation seems to win nothing but fans, as she continues speeding on the path of top-earning celebrities. The acclaimed singer is currently working on her new album ‘POPART’ which is reportedly due for release later this year, in November. Gaga describes the experience as “a musical and visual engineering system that combines music, art, fashion and technology.”
For now, Gaga can sit back, continue on the path of healing and know she has risen from the ranks as the girl from Yonkers. She solidly has made the number one spot on Forbes list of top-earning celebrities under the age of 30. It looks like she may own that spot for some time.
